A friend told me as I was preparing for the wedding that the perfumes I choose for the wedding and honeymoon will always be very special and you’ll always associate them with those special moments.
I’m sharing the three I picked and have since repurchased any that I ran out of. If you’re Arab like I am, you’d most probably agree that heavier, musky scents are the way to go for special occasions. I wanted to mix that up with a cooler more french scent to balance things out; and here are my selections.
Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud. The scent is warm with a perfect balance between a feminine and masculine scent. I must say the Rose is very evident in it, but its a darker, heavier rose scent not a sweet one. It has a hint of cinnamon to spice it up a little. It’s also worth mentioning that it is very long lasting.
Hind Al Oud, Sheikh Abdullah. This one was a substitute for actual Bukhoor since we were not allowed to burn Bukhoor (scented wood) and Oud at the hotel. It came highly recommended from a dear friend that knows his perfume well. a few spritz of it made it seem like I spent a lot of time and effort burning oud. The one I selected, Sheikh A, is the one I connected with the most, it was heavy enough to fade out gradually and really smelt authentic Arabian according to me.
Coco Chanel. This was the easiest one to pick. I’ve always enjoyed wearing it and knew I wanted it to be part of my wedding and honeymoon. It’s really fresh and works for all occasions. It’s amazing when mixed with heavier scents and perfect on its own as well. The scent has bergamot, Jasmine, Patchouli and white musk.
I also used Oud oil and bukhoor(much earlier in the day) from Hind al Oud along with these perfumes. I got so many compliments on how I smelt on both wedding events, even though one of them was outdoors.
Let me know what you use on special occasion and do perfumes make you feel nostalgic like they do with me? i’ll leave you now and go look at some wedding pictures.
