After looking through what felt like over a million wedding dresses online, I had one dress in mind that I completely fell for. I didn’t know who designed it, or where they sold it, I just knew how much I loved it. After our engagement, I went to Abu Dhabi to visit my mom, and thought I would have a look at wedding dresses with her just for fun. We booked an appointment at Esposa in YAS Mall, and got there with our hearts full of excitement and love and some nerves.Read More
I know every bride spends a lot of time visiting vendors and comparing quality and cost etc especially that wedding planners are not very popular in Muscat. This is why I’ve compiled a list of the vendors that I recommend and hope that it helps you in any way as you are planning for your big day.
Crowne Plaza Muscat was not really considered when we first started planning the wedding, but I thought I’ll pass by to check it out just in case it could be, and it was! The hall has a large balcony that overlooks a garden and the breathtaking ocean - enough said.
Although the plan was to take pictures with my husband and our families before sunset, that didn't happen because of everyone being stuck in traffic, regardless, having that open space connected to the hall really made a big difference to the vibe of the place.
With our unpredictable weather in the cooler months, it really gives you the option to have an outdoor area as a lounge area, for the dinner or dessert setup or pictures, if you manage to make it in time.
They were very flexible about the setup we were preparing and the feedback we got on the food from our guests was great.
We danced all night long, literally! and that only means our Deejay was perfect. I’ve heard him at different weddings and he came highly recommended by almost everyone. We did give him a direction of what sort of music we wanted and he managed the rest without any issues.
This was tricky because what I had in mind was simple, straightforward, romantic and flower based. Every business I visited either didn't understand what I wanted or was overpriced and stubborn. We picked Atif Wedding to do the decor and I couldn't have been happier. They listen very closely, have great recommendations, met with me for many hours until I was confident of the outcome. And they actually recommended things that would reduce the overall cost. I did end up renting the entrance stands from Speaking Roses and the entrance sofas and chairs from Hudna trading. Overall, they all worked well together and everyone was so punctual.
Funny story (wasn’t funny on the day!), since we had two events, my lovely aunt from Saudi sent us favours for our guest for the henna night and when they arrived they actually had the wedding date on them. It wasn't a big deal, they were anyway just for close family and friends, and I was sure they wouldn't mind. I stayed up until 3 in the morning filling them with chocolate only to notice after the henna party ended that we forgot to give them out.
This only meant that they were really really meant for the wedding. For the wedding, I knew I wanted a giveaway that didn’t have our initials very prominently on them, something that the guests would appreciate and would want to keep. I picked Karima Farid to make us beautiful A5 frames with a verse from The Quran. It was white with gold foiling for the writing and our family name with date in small print at the bottom. They were perfect.
Karima generously made us a guestbook which is so special to us and we keep going back to it and reading all the sweet messages from our guests.
I randomly came across Pose Oman on Instagram and they were so easy to deal with and so professional. They set up the booth which printed pictures instantly and they emailed us all the pictures from the Photo Booth within a couple weeks. They also customised the print out with our names and wedding date. It’s a shame a I was too busy to take pictures on the day. I would have loved it if they had a backdrop to go with theme, we ended up using the entrance table and flower setup as the background which turned out pretty.
This is probably one of the decisions that took more time to decide, mainly because the photographers we really liked were much higher than the budget we allocated for it and it was a decision that lingered for a couple of months. My sister came across a promotion infinite creative photography were having ( and they have it this year too) which gave us an incredible package for photography, videography and printing the pictures. They were amazing with all of it, they were punctual, well prepared and very friendly. It was lovely having them as part of our wedding.
Many lessons were learned during the process, but given how long this post is becoming, I will share the lessons in another post.
