I’ve been going to Dubai since I was a kid, and every time, it manages to surprise me with how many new places and activities we can do every, single, time. Earlier this month I was on a trip to Dubai with the Dubai Tourism Team (who are amazing by the way) and the funniest group of Social Media Influencers from Oman. We spent a weekend at the beautiful Meydan hotel. I wanted to put up this blog post to inspire your next to Dubai trip.
We flew in from Muscat on Emirates Airlines, smooth and short trip to the Emirates terminal. On the way back to Muscat we had some time to explore the business lounge, and their food is by the far the best I have ever had at any airport. They do have more facilities that would come in handy if you have a long transit such as showers and rest areas.
Before getting our itinerary, Yousuf and I decided to extend the trip and spend a couple more days in Dubai after the weekend was over. And we actually booked at The Meydan Hotel. When I got our itinerary, to our pleasant surprise, that was where they had arranged for us to stay. It is beautiful. All rooms have a view of the race track and for all the fans of equestrians, you will appreciate the architecture and views. Its about 15 minutes from downtown which makes it ideal.
If you've heard anything about the weather in this part of the world it would be that there are two seasons: summer and a sample winter. The activities are endless for all seasons when you’re in Dubai.
Now to the best bit…
City walk , the urban living concept, has expanded and is now way bigger than it was a couple years ago. The variety of cafes, restaurants, shopping (for fashion, beauty, home and more), activities for literally the whole family, all on one street. As we walked between the cafes, passing by carts of Knaffa and ice cream along the way, we ended up at a square, with huge screens across multiple buildings with a children show playing. It was breathtaking.
After our short walk through City walk, we got to Hub Zero. A contemporary building lit up with futuristic designed lighting. We walked in and headed upstairs to a decision between playing billiard or singing along to karaoke, May and I immediately knew we wanted to sing karaoke all night long! We had a major throwback to Christina’s Genie in a bottle, N’SYNC’s Bye Bye Bye and that was just how we started it off. However, as soon as when we found out that the actual artists in the group were in the room next to us, singing beautifully, we ditched the mics and joined them. Hub Zero is perfect for children too from the age of 10, its the perfect indoor entertainment destination for everyone.
A contemporary restaurant down at city walk. They have a generous menu of pasta and burger. I must say the presentation of their dishes was very impressive. We somehow made it to dessert; and we all satisfied our sweet tooth cravings. A great casual spot for lunch or dinner and we found out that they have a branch in Muscat too!
Nikki beach took me back to Mykonos with its white interiors and beautiful sea views. We were there for lunch at the restaurant , if you’re a fan of sushi, you must pass by! and of course the most scrumptious desserts. I couldn't resist the view and went out under the scorching Summer sun to get a few pictures. I’m confident we will be booking ourselves a room their as soon as the temperatures drop down a notch.
I’m so glad I got to go to The Burj for the second time to experience it with Yousuf. Being on top of the world ( 148th floor to be specific), literally, is humbling and powerful and exciting. It really puts things in perspective. On the way out we both loved how all the team members that helped accomplish building The Burj were acknowledged and thanked with huge artworks all the way out.
If you have a sweet tooth like me you will appreciate this place as much! We had the opportunity to make our own chocolate along with the team at Cocoville, it was satisfying! Cocoville is not only a chocolatier but a cafe, event organiser and caterer. It really helps that the place smells divine and it is so cosy!
Ending our trip at a place thats insanely chilled out, with music, food trucks with endless varieties and its indoors was the perfect ending. We all ordered different food and drinks and shared our food to make sure we weren't missing out on anything. Major FOMO. We all loved the concept.
Trips like these are not only exciting because we end up exploring new places but we get to meet incredible people and appreciate their efforts in their respective fields and learn from each other on a both, professional and personal level. To those of you who followed the trip on snapchat and Instastory you know who I am talking about and if not, here are their Instagram accounts.
