I am probably the biggest fan of H&M. The more I purchased from them the more talented I became at recognizing items that will last long in my wardrobe. The great thing with High-street brands (Zara, Topshop, Massimo Dutti…my list goes on) is that they are constantly updating their collections and keeping them updated with the latest trends. This is a makeup post, I promise!
When H&M announced they were launching a beauty range I was very surprised (and skeptical). Just because they are so good with fashion, I wasn’t sure how they would do with makeup. The range covers everything from the base (foundations, concealers and powders) to eyes, lips, nail color and even lashes. I picked up a few bits the other day and here are my thoughts.
Eyes to go – It’s a chunky versatile crayon which can be used on the lids as an eyeshadow or the water line as an eyeliner. I hardly ever wear dark shades on my eye lids so I I’ve been using it in my water line and slightly on the lower lash line. It is very creamy so you have to set it after you apply it or blend it very well and build on the colour intensity gradually.
The shades I selected were Skipper Blue and Raven. Skipper Blue is the most beautiful deep purple/blue shade that complements brown eyes so well. I’m on the hunt for a mascara of a similar shade just to see how they work together. Raven is a deep black shade which comes in handy if you want to add a little smokey effect to your look.
Eye Shadows– The quality of the eye shadows are very impressive. They come in single pots and they are highly pigmented. I picked up a gold and bronze shade which is usually the colors I reach out for most of my eye looks. The eye shadow s range from matts to shimmers and metallic too.
Eye brush – Most of the brushed in the range are double ended – very practical and very travel friendly – I love! With a fluffy brush for blending at one end and a more structured brush to define the eye on the other, I’m really enjoying it. Also, the bristles are really soft and comfortable to use
Makeup bag – The last item I picked up is a beautiful makeup bag with tweed – like fabric and gold details. On the inside it has meshed pockets both for brushes and products, and a loose mesh pocket with a zipper which is very versatile and you have the option of removing it too.
The packaging across the range is very modern, lightweight and really lifts the products up making them feel more expensive than they actually are. If you’re new to makeup or like to experiment, the collection is definitely something you should look into.
The range is available at H&M, City Centre Qurm. The eyes to go retails for RO 4.500, eye shadow pots retail for RO 3.900, eye shadow brush retails for RO 12.900 and the makeup bag retails for RO 6.900. Let me know your thoughts if you have tried anything from H&M Beauty.
