If I had to pick 5 makeup products to live with, Mascara will be in my top 3 for sure. I would even pick it over liquid eyeliner! Over the past 6 months, my collection of great mascaras have grown so quickly and I have so much love for them for different reasons and different occasions.
Although I am all for drugstore products and test them very often to find great finds at affordable prices, I have been able to justify my highness mascara purchases. I wont be ranking these mascaras, but I’ll highlight the different effects each one could give your lashes and hopefully help you find your perfect match.
Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume: Other than it being an amazing and affordable brand, this mascara was one of my first discoveries for great mascaras a couple years ago; and everyone I have recommended it to has loved it as much. it has a plastic wand with a mix of round bumps or spheres and short straight bristles. The wand allows each lash to be lifted and coated with product for even application.
Better Than Sex: When this launched, the hype over it was insane that I was sold and had to give it a go! and the hype was worth it. The wand is fluffy and has an hourglass shaped brush. One coat gives a more natural but impressive length and volume. The formula is a little similar to the Marc Jacobs mascara, not runny which makes it easier to apply it to the tiniest lashes in the inner and outer corners of your eyes. Because of its consistency, you can layer it for an intense dramatic look.
Sephora Outrageous Volume: This would be the most wet formula from this list and has the shortest bristles on it wand. That is why I like to go in with the Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume or L'Oreal False Lash Superstar first to brush them out and get the length and separate the lashes before going in with beautiful volume it gives especially at the roots of the lashes. Because it tends to apply a lot of product when you first apply it and it is extremely black, when applied at the roots, it kind of gives the illusion that you’re wearing a liner. The packaging is a little bulky for my taste however the gold gives my dressing table some character.
L'Oreal False Lash Superstar: I always felt priming lashes was an exaggerated additional step that i didn't need to add to my makeup routine. When I picked this mascara up I thought it was a great chance to try the primer out, if i didn't like it i still have the mascara end to use. I was completely wrong. The primer is incredible, it added so much length to my lashes and separated them to a perfect shape for the actual mascara to be applied. I'm team #primeyourlashes now.
Diorshow Pump’n’Volume Mascara: This must be my favourite mascara ever. It completely transforms my lashes with each application. If you are looking for extreme length and volume without false lashes, this is the mascara you have been looking for. With the new rubber packaging, you can actually “pump” more product onto the wand to apply more product with each application, but i always prefer to use less with each application and layer it on to the desired volume. With the less product technique you get less clumpy lashes and even application over your lashes. The consistency of the formula is more wet than my other mascaras, you might want to give it some time between application if you're not looking for clumpy lashes. the only thing i haven't enjoyed about it, is its rubber packaging which gets grubby so quickly.
L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Fatale: I picked this up at Duty Free in Rome when i was actually looking for Volume Million Lashes So Couture mascarafrom Loreal but couldn't find it. I am so impressed with everything about this mascara; it gives beautiful volume and shape to my lashes, its easy to apply with the consistency of its formula and it comes at an extremely affordable price, however, it is only exclusive to duty free, which is a shame when i don't know when I'm travelling next.
If I were to pick my favourite high end and drugstore mascara from the list, I would go with the Diorshow Pump’n’Volume Mascara and the L'Oreal False Lash Superstar(because its more available over the L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Fatale)
I really wanted to leave some Mascara application tips, but this post is turing out to be much longer than I was planning, I will save them for another post. I am always happy with your recommendations, please leave your recommendations on my social media channels or down below!
