I have suffered from acne throughout high-school and university; got an Accutane treatment when I was 19 and was left with acne scars on my cheeks, some discoloration and occasional breakouts. With the situation I have, I really need my foundation coverage to be medium to high to even out my base.
Both foundations offer medium coverage which is definitely buildable and come in a wide range of shades. The Estee Lauder Double Wear has a thicker consistency and needs to be applied in small amounts, until you reach the desired coverage. Nars Sheer Glow is much lighter and makes application very fast with great end results.
For a more covered and flawless finish, I use the Real Techniques buffing brush. A little bit goes a long way with both foundations.
Both foundations come in glass bottles and without a pump, making it very difficult when travelling and you waste a lot of product in application. Although you can purchase a pump separately for the Nars foundation, it doesn't come with a cover which still is irritating. For the Estee Lauder, the MAC foundation pump fits perfectly on it.
I finish both off with the MAC NC 42 Pressed Powder. Although I need much less powder with the Estee Lauder (because of its matte finish), in the humidity and heat of Muscat (and my oily t-zone) powder can’t be avoided.
The Estee Lauder definitely has a longer lasting power and is perfect for long days. The Nars is long-lasting too, but it will require you to reapply your powder throughout the day if you do get oily.
For the Estee Lauder Double Wear I am in the shade 4C1 and for the Nars Sheer Glow I am in Tahoe Med/Dark2. Nars gives me a more bronzed complexion that I get a lot of compliments on, where the Estee Lauder is closer to my skin tone and is a great colour match.
I use the Nars Sheer Glow as my everyday foundation and leave the Estee Lauder for nights out or long days. I have repurchased those two foundations a couple of times already and they are definitely worth the hype.
The Nars Sheer Glow is available at Sephora and Selfridges and retails for $45/ £31. Estee Lauder Foundation is available at Areej muscat and retails for RO 21.
